crossbills just made their appearance this week. Of all the wonderful birds, I have to say I really take great joy in juncos and chickadees. They both are fun to watch and make me happy.

So many beautiful photos. I love the chickadees too. This is the second year in a row that the swallows are trying to take over the chickadees nest. We have several bird houses around our house, but the swallows always want the one on our house that the chickadees are using.

I enjoy the little Pygmy nuthatches. They are a lot of fun. A few winters ago, I put peanut butter out at sunrise every morning. The Pygmies were waiting for me and would eat off the spoon!

We had a pair of bluebirds finally make a nest and have babies last year after 16 years and trying different areas on our property. This morning, they came back and went in and out of the house and flying around it. We are so excited! We sat on our deck last year every evening watching these graceful beauties catching food and feeding the babies, and were even more lucky to watch the day they fledged. We love the crossbills, nuthatches, and all the different birds that come and go depending on the seasons. Hooray for the hummers, they just bring joy!

I asked The Rogernator what his favorite "fun" bird was and after he thought he said the nuthatches. He loves watching them running up and down trees, hanging upside down.

I saw martins yesterday too. They chased me when I got too close to their birdhouse :-) Guess I look like a home wrecker....

I have to go look up difference between pigmy nuthatch, brown creeper and wren. Pretty sure I may have them confused. But I am learning, thanks for all informative pictures on pinecam.
