Think your private information is safe on Facebook? Think again.

It’s conceivable that someone else actually edited the clip. But a Facebook official, confirming a Daily Beast investigation, said the video was first posted on Politics WatchDog directly from Brooks’ personal Facebook account.

I do not have any personal information on any social platform. I understand that many of you keep in touch with family and friends through Facebook and this is valuable to you but remember, your private information that you share there is not safe. So you might want to add as little personal information as possible.

And that's enough to constitute "personal information"? I don't think so.

Hi TillerBee! You don't know me, and I don't mean to make you paranoid, but I was able to find your home address, full name, phone number, political affiliation, the email addresses you likely use commonly and a lot of other stuff just through your website (your blog has references to your full name, in case you were wondering).

The weirdest thing I found was your "Lifetime Membership ID" for American Motorcylcist Association in a 1989 copy of American Motorcyclist Magazine :) This all took me about 5 minutes of poking around, unfortunately :(

Anyway, just because you're not on facebook doesn't mean you're not leaking personal information all over the internet :)

Facebook uses personal information in ways that I do not want as do many other social websites. I know Pinecam does not.

My personal information has been stolen via OPM by the Chinese, from BlueCross/BlueSheild, via a company I used to work for, several other places, and just recently via the Mayo Clinic app.

I did not say no one could find my personal information, I choose not to join Facebook etc. because of the way they use information.

edited to add: btw, thanks for reminding me to delete that blog/website. It's not longer pertinent and yes, I did have some test stuff for Kim with my name there.

And if anyone really wants to see how much of their personal info is out there :nerd: go to https://www.mylife.com/ and type in your name (or anyone else's).
You'll be amazed at how much the web knows about you - right down to where you live and who your neighbors are. :yikes:

And here's another search engine - equally alarming. :eek5: https://www.truepeoplesearch.com/

Mylife.com had nothing on me, truepeoplesearch had quite a bit, but a lot of people I've never heard of.
Here's a doc that I've used to remove myself from a lot of websites.

Not just social media and online purchasing sites will divulge your info, but your insurance company, doctor, dentist and any medical association will innocently do the same. Data propagated through database information exchanges long before public use of the internet existed.
