Hmmm... Natural gas production in the USA is at an all time high. ( https://www.eia.gov/dnav/ng/ng_cons_sum_dcu_nus_a.htm ). It is distribution costs driving the increase? It's not lack of supply...

Yes, it's the last link in the distribution chain - local distribution that is the big dollar increase.

and this is where CNG is preposterously high. Both Xcel and CNG charge about $0.24 per therm for the gas itself. Xcel adds another $0.22 for a total of about $0.46 plus a $14.44/mo service charge. CNG is charging us another $1.53 per therm plus a $16/mo service charge(plus 3 more taxes and fees). Seriously, that is 7 TIMES the overhead! Complete rip-off and they need to be taken over.

Well, I have never found CNG to be a particularly reliable or responsive company in my 21 years dealing with them. 15 years ago we had to have the line moved for a new garage. It literally took them 9 months to get the gas line buried after they just ran the new one across the yard. Had to threaten a lawsuit to get them to finish the job. They were supposed to replace my gas meter on a specific date last month and they were a no-show. Not a big fan, but sadly the only alternative currently is LP gas...
