FYI - Presented this topic to the Republican Committee in Fairplay yesterday evening. Got to chat with Senator Hisey and State District Representative Wilson and they were very responsive.

I would also allow women to vote... Anyway, that statement has nothing to do with the topic at hand - how the redistricting will divide Park County.

FYI - My private poll so far shows about 90% of the business owners and general public that I've spoken to, don't even know what district they are in. Of those in the 2nd district that I informed of the gerrymander, it is about 50/50 apathy and various stages of disappointment/anger. Of those that are interested, not one has declared joy about their mountain concerns being represented by the northern territory. It seems mentioning Boulder is the trigger... huh... go figure.

Attended the Park County commissioner's meeting in Bailey and spoke privately with some of the attendees. Not one was aware of the gerrymander and thereby assumed they were still represented in the 5th congressional district. It has only been so the best part of a decade. It is looking to me, that word of mouth is the only source of ground-level political information in these parts. Well, since that seems to be the case, more conversation on the subject please.

Just discovered that Park County Commission District 2 very closely resembles the gerrymandered portion for the 2nd Congressional District. Hmmm...

So what?
Do you have some accusation of miss-doing for political gain?

It is metaphysically impossible for me to know what someone else smells.

Not one person in the dozens I have spoken to one-on-one or at meetings, knew about the gerrymander. A secret kept so well, we could build atomic bombs here. The reaction is either apathy or anger.

The redistricting commission does not exist yet. It won't be chosen until spring and summer of 2021. The commission will travel around the state to seek public input on the redistricting plans. In the meantime, my hopes are that all the people will have plenty of time to speak and think about it, form their own opinion and voice to the committee that politics that was once resigned to, is now not legally tolerated. Maybe the knowledge that there could be repercussions, fairness and popular opinion will influence their new map. But they will only undo the damage if the people express their want, else unopposed they will move the line further south and legal proceedings will be necessary. This thread can serve as education to them as well.

As for the point of my last post, like I said earlier in this thread... coincidence.

For the record, I don't like the fact that we were moved into the 2nd congressional district, I believe most of us would agree our interests are aligned more with those that remain in the 5th. But I just don't see any connection between that and the Park county commissioner lines?

hence, my questioning your bringing it up.
