Aliy is on her way to Nome!

However, Travis Beals is catching up with her, moving much faster than her and is only 4 miles behind. She probably does not know this. I sure hope he does not pass her. :praying:
At current speeds she should arrive in Nome by about 7:30 - 8pm our time. But once she gets to the flat part she may pick up speed.

Here is the current top 10

POS MUSHER (bib#) CHKPNT
1 Peter Kaiser (9) In to Nome
2 Joar Leifseth Ulsom (28) In to Nome
3 Jessie Royer (14) In to Nome
***********************************************
4 Aliy Zirkle (19) Out of Safety
5 Travis Beals (51) Out of Safety
6 Matt Hall (3) Out of White Mountain
7 Paige Drobny (40) Out of White Mountain
8 Ramey Smyth (6) Out of White Mountain
9 Aaron Burmeister (38) Out of White Mountain
10 Mitch Seavey (32) Out of White Mountain

Here's a race where sex, age, color, nationality has no bearing on who does well and who doesn't. It's just not about any of that. However, I think it is wonderful that a Native Alaskan (Pete Kaiser is Yupik) won this year and so far 3 women are in the top 10! :applause: :applause: :applause:

The next group of mushers are:

11 Aaron Burmeister
12 Richie Diehl
13 Linwood Fiedler
14 Jeff King
15 Wade Marrs
16 Jeff Deeter
17 Kristy Berington
18 Anna Berington

Still no info on Jessie Holmes. He is resting in Elim currently in 23rd position but falling further behind with each hour. I suspect he just wants to finish regardless of position. But I will not be surprised if he scratches.

10 people have scratched so far.

Wow! I just watched the video of Jeff King's finish.

He finished with 13 of his original 14 dogs and they looked FANTASTIC!!! Wagging tails, happy, excited, hopping around, and that eager barking/whining, "Don't stop Dad, let's go, let's go, let's go!!!"

After the finish line pomp and circumstance, the team launched out of the shoot like a rocket!
Amazing athletes, after 1000 miles in just 10+ days they still want more!

:applause: :applause: Thank you Jeff for taking such great care of your dogs and keeping them so happy!!! :applause: :applause:
