We both thank you for the prayers and thoughts. Andy was a happy person, an accomplished actor and an all around nice guy. He was only 39 years old when he passed. He had been sick for a few days and he had been coughing during the night and got up to sit up in the living room to help the coughing. When his wife walked in on him the next morning, he had died. Prelim autopsy showed a left lung infection caused by pneumonia but it will not be complete for a few more weeks.

This is the hardest thing that we have ever lived through - I don't think anyone understands unless they have lost a child.

I haven't lost a child but I do have the deepest sympathy for you and Mr. DL and the rest of your family. He sounds like such a fine young man who was loved by all around him.

It is confirmed that he died from streptococcal/bacterial (spelling may be wrong) pneumonia. He most likely would have lived if he had gone to a doctor and gotten treatment.

I had the very same thing at age 45 but went to the doctor - PLEASE to anyone sick - PLEASE see a doctor ASAP!

He was a really good kid - and did not deserve to die so young. :(

So sorry to hear both the original horrible news and that update. Sometimes a chest cold is more than a chest cold and maybe your warning can help some other people.

I thought about you and your husband on Thanksgiving Day, how much you both missed him on this first holiday.

We all tend to think pneumonia is only for old, vulnerable people, not young, healthy people. Not so. Oh to go back in time, just a bit and change things, just a bit. Thank you for letting us know the final decision. And yes, a lingering cold or virus is not "something to just get through", it can be life threatening. So, I think your warning should be heeded.
