Up here, Evergreen, Lariat Lodge has a Malted Waffle on brunch menu, Sat and Sun 11am-3pm,
Wild Game used to do a chicken and waffle, but dropped breakfast a few months ago.

To me, a waffle is basically a vehicle for the enjoyment of real maple syrup. Sorry, but Waffle House syrup just doesn't come close.

Keg, You hit the nail on the head!!!!

When I was a kid back in NE Ohio - I will not demean myself by saying how many years ago - an Uncle had a small sugar bush on his farm, with a sugar house & wood fired boiling pans. We'd ocasionally vist during season, help gather sap buckets and boil. A real treat was maple wax, where we'd pour fresh, hot syrup into deep (CLEAN) snow, to make a chewy candy.

I don't know of any restaurant that uses the good stuff. Brought a gallon of heavy dark back from Ohio last time we were home. Gotta go again, almost out!

DWs does have waffles on the menu as part of their pancake or waffle platter. BTW, DWs changed ownership on March 1. They have remodeled the dining area but, so far, their breakfast menu is pretty much the same.
