Greetings Pinecammers!
Made a roadtrip to Fairplay this morning (revelation - Fairplay same distance from home as downtown Denver, & way more enjoyable commute!) and found Shaggy Sheep for lunch on the way home. So glad (better revelation - Shaggy Sheep same distance from home as Aspen Park!)! Reading the good, bad, & ugly on Pinecam, went in just to discover, as I love to explore new eating places.

I love it! Better location than I thought - I had thought it was the older building that can't stay in business, and thought this one had died too. Wrong! Saw the Shaggy Sheep sign, and realized - hey that's that new place - and made a u-ey to check it out before going to work (plenty of room to maneuver & for parking). So glad!

Walking in, immediately comfortable. My kinda homey place, altho I'm a realist (as in, no $$, cut your own heat) and woulda immediately melted had it been a wood stove vs a gas stove. But warm it was, and more than 1 person stood in front of it when coming inside! And after exploration, was hoping to see my oddball little cactus among the windowsill greenery to ask about its name & care, but oddball it remains. But the food...

I love it! Yes limited offerings, but this is no chain eatery, in fact a small business w/ unique offerings. Sumpn for everyone and looking forward to trying out its breakfast menu and more of the lunch offerings! I had the carnitas 'tacos' w/ a side salad. And guess what - Cholula (sp?) offers a green sauce! Tho really, these guys didn't need it they were so tasty. The salad was so green didn't feel the need to pop a vitamin supplement for the day. Really enjoyed my lunch and had excellent service and conversations with the clientele and server (Sarah today). Saw others order burgers, and that's on the future visit list for me too. Maybe next visit will enjoy a glass of vino if I'm in for lunch as they now have a liquor license and will be serving adult beverages in the near future.

Good to see locals, or regulars come in, as I'd love to see this place thrive! They can add me to their regulars now that I kno it's not 'so far away'. I WILL be back! Thanks, Shaggy Sheep, for joining the mountain folk!!

Good news: burritos have been added to the breakfast menu. They are great and very generous! For those of us who love the baked avocado, avocado is an optional filling. :multi:

Marketing was weird, like Angry Lama, Shaggy Sheep brings oily, curly sheep wool to mind not food. Ew.

There you go, it's amazing how differently we all think. "Shaggy sheep" brings to my mind Little Bo Peep, the shepherds tending their sheep and seeing the Star, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Australia, wool blankets. I didn't even know sheep were oily.

They have some cute shaggy sheep statues and pictures around to bring to mind good stuff.

to me it means spritely mountain sheep (like mountain human residents) being out there no matter what, and they're shaggy long-haired for extra warmth, like dogs over the winter.

and yes - perfect one DL!

Isn't haggis made from sheep ... parts? My one and only experience with haggis was actually quite pleasurable.

Good news! You can now buy the amazing green chili from the Shaggy Sheep to take home - pints and quarts.
If you haven't tried this stuff yet, you are really missing something! It is gluten free and vegetarian. I
make a mean green chili and this stuff puts mine to shame. Love it, love it! Our first quart smothered everything
from potato pancakes, to chicken breasts to pork chops. We had to go back for more this morning.
