To the Pinecam Community

We, the volunteers of Pinecam, wish to, first of all, express our sympathies with everyone in the community that was affected by the horrific events of September 27. Many of us have children that attend PCHS or FMS and shared the panic and uncertainty with everyone else in the area. Our thoughts and prayers are especially with the Keyes family at this time. We are grieving along with everyone else and hope that we can do a little to provide a place where healing may take place.

We have noted many worthwhile efforts to both honor Emily's memory and to provide healing for our community. While we applaud these efforts, we encourage all members and readers of Pinecam to be careful what efforts they support with their financial contributions. In a time like this, with emotions running so high, many people collect money for worthwhile efforts. Most are honest. However, in a few rare cases, the collected funds are not used for any legitimate memorial effort but are used to line the pockets of those soliciting the funds.

Pinecam is an open forum. We cannot and do not vet everyone who posts here. Therefore, some of the offers to help which are posted on Pinecam may not be completely legitimate. We strongly recommend, before you contribute any money to an organization or individual, that you find out where the funds will ultimately be spent, what percentage of the contributions will be given to the final recipient(s) and how the accounting will be handled.

We do not suspect any efforts currently posted in the Pinecam forums to be anything but legitimate offers to help the community. But, please remember, Pinecam cannot verify the veracity of any of these efforts.

We hope you are finding the Pinecam forums to be a good place to learn the latest information regarding this horrific event. Pinecam is a place to give and receive virtual hugs and to support your neighbors and friends. In time, we hope that all of us will embrace Emily's spirit, let the grief melt away and allow her spirit to soar.

Pinecam Board of Directors, moderators, administrators and other volunteers.
