On my way to work this morning the radio announced that Emily's family has requested that we do an act of kindness in Emily's name today.

Anyone who might have known her personally I would love to know if she had any special interests or groups that she may have volunteered for that I can do something in her memory?

I read in another thread that you can contact Park County Crisis Center for ideas.

I am not a resident of Bailey but I have cried and prayed for you all over the last couple of days. I read with great delight that the spokesperson for the Keyes family has asked everyone to perform Random Acts of Kindness in memory of Emily. I said a silent prayer on Thursday night that people would respond with kindness rather than anger -- my prayer has been answered. I believe in the healing and transforming power of kindness, particularly in times like this. I learned through the loss of my own friend four years ago that performing Random Acts of Kindness can change hearts and minds and leave you feeling positive and empowered rather than helpless and grieving.

I wanted to share some resources with all of you looking to do Random Acts of Kindness in memory of Emily.

The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (www.actsofkindness.org) is based here in Denver and has a great website full of resources for communities and classrooms as well as inspiration and discussion boards. It is a great place to get and exchange ideas regarding RAKs. You can even set up your own free Community Page where you can share information about what you're doing and exchange ideas with those interested.

I started a RAK organization called Lynda's Legacy (www.lyndaslegacy.com) after my friend died. Our website has ideas for acts of kindness that you can perform. We also print and provide at no charge Kindness Cards that you can leave behind when you perform an act of kindness and also a Caught Card that you can give to someone you catch being kind to others. Both cards have a "Pass it On" or "Pay it Forward" call to action so that those receiving the cards can keep the kindness moving. We have over 10,000 cards in circulation around the world now and would love for some to show up in Bailey. I would be honored to send free cards to anyone who wants them. Contact me at lyndaslegacy@yahoo.com.

God bless the Keyes family and the members of your community. You do have what it takes to survive this difficult time and to help change the world by keeping Emily alive in your kindness.

C Moser

What would folks think of prtinting up a bumper sticker or t-shirt with "Practice Random acts of Kindness" in memory of Emily? The proceeds could go to the memorial fund, and perhaps it might change someone's mind to perform an act of kindness instead of being mean?

well, a lot is swirling about her last test message, "I love you guys". Perhaps a sticker that read along the lines of
'Practice random acts of kindness for emily, We love you too'

I would buy a bumper sticker! I need a new one for me car anyhow.

If anyone knows Emily's favorite color the lettering could be done in that color.

Its so hard to keep all of these threads on topic. I can understand.

Just wanted to say that we had lunch at the Cutthroat this afternoon. It was suprisingly empty in there. Most likely because we missed the lunch rush.

We had the priveledge of shaking Fred's hand and sharing hugs and support with our town's finest outside the cafe.

Regarding the acts of kindness, when we went to pay for our meal, we were not charged for drinks, instead we were asked to write our names on a piece of paper. An Anonymous person offered to pay for the first 20 people's drinks that came in after them. I left a large tip :)
