I love how 9News on Wednesday afternoon kept saying as how Platte Canyon High School was on the Park/Jeffco County line, whatever that is supposed to mean.

I noticed the same thing Eddie AND several times it was referred to as Bailey High School and Platte River High School. But, I think they were trying to get as much info. on as quick as possible.

They were all trying to scoop each other, regardless of accuracy. Channel 9 kept saying we were in Jefferson County, probably because Jackie Kelly (a PIO from Jeffco) was handling the media initially. Reminds me of the HiMeadow fire when Adele the Beautiful stood in the ballfields at 72 & Bluebird saying, "This is Adele the Beautiful at the staging area 3 miles south of Bailey." Duh. If they don't know where they are, how are we supposed to accept the rest of their info?

This entire post is trivial and selfish. We shouldn't be focused on the comparison to any other tragedy. We should stay focused on the tragedy itself.

We lost an important member of the community on Wednesday. That is a tragedy.

Another young lady will be traumatized for a long time to come, the witness to this madman's actions, that is a tragedy.

The Keyes family, how will Emily's brother ever be able to return to PCHS? He will also be flooded with memories of the horror. That is a tragedy.

Forget the press.

Remember and live by Emily's last know words - "I love U guys."

No one is overreacting, this is a tragedy within itself, whether one person or multiple. This is very horrific, its not Columbine but just as bad, its heart breaking, we as a community have to stick together, and we will, and it shows. And as far as the press, well its the press we all know better.

I spent the afternoon of the Columbine shootings trying to find my daughter, and I admit that watching the Platte Canyon HS families finding their kids was deja vu to me. However, that's the end of the similarities. Not only are the communities not the same, but the perpetrators and their horrible acts shouldn't be compared either. Their sick motives have nothing in common.
A note about media, there was a little bear in a tree in a neighborhood in Littleton. All 3 networks were there, and I was pushed off the sidewalk by a news crew member. Ridiculous.

That's what I'm saying though...

Take the Negative of the Media and turn it to a positive...Use it..for YOUR Purposes. I think the "C to C Ride" is a fantastic Idea.

Again..YOU/WE control the Media...We can either listen to the "bad" all the time...or Choose to make the Media into a Positive thing. Use them...Get your message out. EMail every Media outlet you can...biggest to smallest. Get the word out about how Great the Highway 285 family is!

You will only gain more strength of you have the voice to show it!
