Here's what we've got coming up for the month of August at Conifer Library! For start times please check out our website at

The Art House: 8/1, 8/15, 8/29- Get your art on at our ongoing open workshop. Not a Rembrandt? Not to worry because we invite all skill levels to learn how to better use the visual vocabulary of shape, value, color, line, texture and edges. Led by Evergreen artist Chris McAllister, we'll explore these concepts in still life, landscape, portrait and figure paintings. Bring in a project you’re already working on or join in on a group project. You're welcome to work in oil or acrylic paints; simply bring your own painting supplies. Our ongoing classes are designed for continuous learning in an open, individualized environment. New students are welcome at any time. Come paint the town, well, whatever color you want. Suitable for: Adults

National Coloring Book Day: 8/2- Unleash your creativity and celebrate National Coloring Book Day. Suitable for: All ages

Better Pet Parenting: 8/2- What can you expect as a new pet owner? How much time should you spend with a pet? How do you groom my new pet? What kind of sleeping space does your pet need? What type of exercise does or training does your new pet need? What type of food is best for my new pet? These questions and more will be answered. Suitable for: All ages

Family Time: 8/5, 8/12, 8/19, 8/26- Everyone is invited for stories, singing, rhyming and dancing.

Lego Play and Build: 8/13- Calling all LEGO® fans! Builders of all ages are welcome to stick to the theme or build your own creation. What story will you tell? We provide the LEGO® bricks and LEGO DUPLO® for younger kiddos. Suitable for: All Ages

Game On!: 8/16- Stop twiddling your thumbs and break the daily monotony and get your game on! We have games but encourage you to bring your own to challenge friends (and make new ones!) Suitable for: Teens

The Night Sky: 8/25- The night sky comes alive when you look through telescopes with the Lookout Mountain Nature Center at Conifer Library. See the moon and some of our planets like you've never seen them before. Enjoy a presentation on space missions and night photography by an aerospace engineer who designs satellites for Lockheed Martin. Then use the telescopes and see what you can find. Suitable for: All ages

Book Group plus Author Visit: 8/29- Love to discuss great reads? That's what we do at the Tuesday Night Book Group. This month we're discussing The Olive Picker by Kathryn Brettell with a special visit from the author. New members always welcome! Suitable for: Adults
