What trouble? I think we're trying to PREVENT the trouble as it has worked fine for all these years and just trying to keep the one person-one vote for the state we live in!

UnAmerican? Say what? C'mon man!
The electoral college is as American as it gets. Only America elects their head of state using the electoral college system. Can't get any more American than that.

Democracy demands one vote for each person.

Electoral college is from bygone days. Feudal days used this.

Wow, your obviously not well informed about WHY we have the Electoral College. With it , it DOES let every vote count throughout the country, NOT in the most populated areas of our country. That is exactly why our founders of this country developed the Electoral College so that EVERYONE gets a vote.

FYI - America is not a Democracy.

Ever hear of this? "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands"
...probably not

The proper way to change how a president is elected is by a constitutional amendment, not by one political party attempting to gain national power through passing state legislation. This will end poorly for everyone if/when the Dems declare presidential election victory based on this.

:yeah that: This is what makes the United States the United States - a Constitutional Republic. Did you know that the U.S. has the oldest written constitution still used in the world? There is a good reason for that.
The concepts are pretty simple. You have 50 "mini-countries" called states that use one-person, one-vote systems to determine their leaders and send electors for the national elections based on the wishes of THEIR state. The founding fathers knew that different states would have have different wishes and they didn't want just big states to control all the power. Even though the U.S.A uses democratic principles, the founders realized that there are some failings to those principles like the concept of Tyranny of Majority.

I find it extremely ironic and hypocritical that people want to change our electoral system without giving the people the opportunity to use the one-person, one-vote system to vote on this radical constitutional change - which is all this petition movement is advocating! Many would say we shouldn't even be NEEDING such a vote in the first place unless we're dealing with a constitutional amendment!

Our system of government has worked well and has been the envy of the world for hundreds of years. Now some sore losers who can't accept the results of the last election, want to change the rules.
