7th Annual Christmas Bird Count- Friday Dec. 14th at 8am; Meet at the Forest Service Office in Fairplay on corner of HWY 9 :applause:
and HWY 285; Learn about Fairplay’s Winter Resident Birds; Fun for all ages and abilities; Bird watchers of all skill levels
are encouraged to celebrate the outdoors this holiday season by participating in a local bird count. This annual historic
event has taken place in thousands of locations throughout North, Central, and South America since December 25th 1900.
Participants spend the day observing and counting the number of each species of birds they encounter. The observer can be a
field participant who goes out with a group to count birds, or an individual or family who would like to participate at home
by watching their backyard feeders. Birders of all levels are welcome and there are options for hiking, snowshoeing, or
driving. For additional information on the Christmas Bird Count or to participate in this event, please contact Kristen
