Congratulations -- you deserve the honor. We were out of the country for two years and checked Pinecam weekly to keep up on the local news. It was great to have an electronic connection to our neighborhood back home. We are now permanently back in our Conifer home and the transition was not such a shock because we had been kept up to date on what was happening along the 285 corridor. Thank you for such a great community service.

Pinecam.com is your ?online? community!

Founded in 1994 by Wayne Harrison, Pinecam originally started as a site for mushroom hunters in the mountains. When the Buffalo Creek Fire raged in May 1996, it quickly became THE source of information for our mountain communities.

Today, Pine-cam has almost 3,400 registered users. With links to major news sources, local organizations and agencies, employment and other free classified ads, Pinecam is a one-stop site.

Anyone can discuss local events and happenings, ask a question about mountain living or any number of other things and receive a number of knowledgeable answers. You can even share or find a recipe.

Web posters have adopted a highway along 285 in Pine Junction. A group of posters, who previously only knew each other on line, now meet for breakfast every week.

One of the busiest and most visible activities of Pinecam is the Troop Support Action Committee. This team goes out in public to solicit contributions to send to members of the American military and shipped over 2 tons of goods to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Special items were also sent to the Coast Guard that was providing relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

In September 2005, at the annual Pinecam Picnic, ownership of Pinecam was sold by Wayne Harrison to the Pinecam Community for $1. Pinecam is now operated by an all-volunteer board of directors.

I'm gonna take this opportunity to remind you all about the Pinecam Annual Picnic!
It's a wonderful way to actually meet your cyber-buddies, (although 'camland has several opportunities for face-to-face time!) It's a fun day with great people and good food!

(In case you missed the announcement post, the date for the picnic is Saturday, Sept. 20th
& will be held at our traditional location of Pine Valley Ranch Park!)
