Any recipe out there that is good sandwich bread. Mine tastes good, seems moist, but crumbles when I try to make a sandwich.

Three things you can do. Add a tablespoon or two of vital wheat gluten along with the flour. Or for a finer crumb and binding together better, if your recipe does not call for any egg, add one or two eggs and reduce the liquid some.

If by the title of your topic, you mean "whole wheat" bread, try using pastry wheat flour from Natural Grocers. Stone ground or other whole wheat flour tends to "cut" the strands of gluten formed in the bread dough and make for a crumbly texture.

I have a recipe for "soft" white bread that is really good but I don't have a bread machine and don't know how well it would work in yours. I can post that if you want.

Thanks for the suggestions!
I enjoy the whole wheat and dark pumpernickle the most so that is what I am trying to find a recipe for. I will try these. I do not have the issue with the white bread recipe that I have for my bread machine.

Two other suggestions to add to TB’s, One is to add nonfat dry milk powder, maybe 2-3 T per loaf depending on the heaviness, eg pumpernickel or rye will take more than whole wheat. A second is to replace some of the white flour in your recipes with potato flour, maybe 1/2 cup. Doing both should keep the crumbles away. Happy baking.
