My employee/friend, like so many horse owners right now, is in a dire situation after a contentious divorce and is desperate to find a home or homes for her two horses. You can imagine the emotional stress this is causing her--and me--as I'm losing my riding buddy! :(

"Rocky" is a bay thoroughbred gelding who is dead broke and that anyone can ride. He is around 20 years old, but doesn't look it. He is a supreme trail horse and is even willing to leave the herd and be ridden out alone. He is one dependable, handsome guy. He is 15.2 hands. She would like to try to get $200 for him to offset her current boarding bill.

"Banjo" is Rocky's companion. He is a strikingly colored Peruvian Paso/Gaited Mustang pinto with one blue eye. He is a 12 year old gelding. He has been professionally trained and is an energetic, yet sweet horse, who is willing to please anyone who gives him attention. He is 14.2 hands tall. He is recovering from a rear leg/stifle injury sustained when he was kicked by another horse at his current boarding facility. Because of the injury, she is willing to find him a home for free, understanding that he still has healing to do.

My friend is under a terribly short time deadline--she has to have these guys out of their current place next month, so she is desperate to place them and she's out of money to move them someplace else. Every rescue she's called is full, and we can't even bear to think of the possiblity of euthanasia! I realize this is an all-too-familiar scenario, but I felt it was worth a try to find help from the good people of our community and Pinecam.

Please PM me for pictures, and in the meanwhile I'll try to figure out how to post them here. Thank you all so much!

No, Jmiller, Rocky has always been known as Rocky. Similar markings, but you'll notice the difference in those left rear white socks.......

I'm praying for wonderful homes for these two horses. I cant imagine how stressed your friend is. DavisRanch is great at homing horses with the right people. Please keep us posted. I'll keep you in my thoughts..

The people I have in mind for Rocky are very very interested and will call the owner today.

I spoke with the owner last night--Banjo is a best fit for someone with a bit of experience, not a rank beginner, though he does nothing wrong, no buck, etc. He has a ton of pro training and sounds like a wonderful horse. His injury will heal, and he should ideally have stall rest to allow for the best outcome. Anyone out there able to help him?
