Hi All,
I'm sure there is someone out there who can identify this plant that was given to me as a seedling. The flowers pictured are opening in my greenhouse. They have a very slight pleasant scent.

I assume it's a perennial, but any info you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks!

Datura...they do smell great and are very toxic. I lived in New Mexico for a few years and they are very commonly seen growing in the arroyos but are all white.

Datura!!! Yes! A double purple Datura at that! So beautiful!!!

When I saw it earlier before the flowers bloomed, I thought it was going to be a Dutchman's Pipe. :rof laughing: I was not even close!

I had a friend give me two of these last year. I read up on them to find they are banned in many states as they are very toxic to humans and animals. Let it die a graceful death.

also called 'jimson weed' - very hallucenogenic (the white variety, I'm sure the purple has similar toxicity)

Carlos Castenata worte of it

and every part of it is toxic, even the seeds
