Bag your own groceries. In most other countries this is the norm. In Germany you also must provide your own bags or pay for new ones. Yes - even PLASTIC ones! Carts require a coin to use (returned when you bring the cart back.) No more whining, please.

Competition? If Safeway goes under then we only have King Soopers.

I've always had excellent customer service at Safeway and King Soopers. I shop at both stores. I find that if I try to save money at KS, it's cheaper at Safeway when I go over there after I've already bought some items at KS. So, I've learned that some things are always cheaper at KS and some things are always cheaper at Safeway.

My mother in law won't shop Safeway because 25 years ago they asked for her DL in order to cash her check. Since she lives with us, I let her shop at KS and I shop at Safeway that way we get the best of both. I find both Customer Service is great. I love the friendliness of the people up here. If you find the Customer Service bad up here, try the stores down in town . I also find Customer Serivce often is a direct reflection of you and your personality. If you are friendly then the person you are dealing with tends to be friendly.

I shop for the best prices. Refusing to shop somewhere because of a simple mistake seems excessively dramatic to me. I usually bag my own groceries, and if something gets forgotten it's my own dang fault. I thank the clerk that asks for ID because I appreciate their efforts to reduce identity theft.

I got carded last week when I was buying some wine. I told the clerk she had just earned dinner at her choice of restaurants.

Competition is the basis for a free market economy, without it we would be at the mercy of monopolies who could name their price. If you do not like Safeway, go to King's...that is why their was a Macy's and a Gimbles, so people can choose, but like Daisy said, it happens everywhere, after all, we are all only human...so good luck finding a perfect place to grocery shop, I am sure it was not done on purpose....ever been to a fast food joint??? THEY NEVER GET YOUR ORDER WRONG....

Well Said. We should all appreciate the beauty of competition.

OMG. When I was a kid a piece of fish from the supermarket got left in the trunk, in the summer. The car reeked for months.

On another note, I only shop at Safeway because I know where to find things. I tried to shop both stores but my brain could not keep up with which store I was in.

I have only had excellent experiences with Safeway customer service. One time I got home with a rotten watermelon. When I took it back they not only refunded the $, they gave me another and a lesson on how to thump them to tell if they are any good. Yea, two trips suck. I get that.

I left my prescription sunglasses at Safeway once, reported it, and they called me by the time I got home (20 min.) to report they had been turned in.

Quick service.

KS always go out of their way to find things I can't find as well.

My biggest gripe now, for both of them, is neither carries SEEDLESS BLACK RASPBERRY PRESERVES!!!
