If you love your dogs and don't want to be hounded by neighbors who let their dogs run loose and get your dogs barking, then want to report you, don't move to Woodside. Move somewhere else. Woodside is not a dog friendly neighborhood. It's do as I say, not as I do!

Dear stringwalker,
I'm sorry you are having this problem.
However, it's not a Woodside problem, it's a People problem. Here are some suggestions:
See if you can catch a picture of the dogs running loose. If you can, I believe that's a violation in both Parkco and Jeffco (it's unclear which side you and the other folks' dogs are on).
When your dogs react to the unleashed visitors and an official responds to a report, use that opportunity to cross-report the owners -- with or without a photo to prove it.
Try writing to the HOA and alert them that you think values are affected by adverse conditions, then describe whatever you think is going on. Point out that the Woodside covenants prohibit nuisance activities and argue that you think this is one. Maybe they could write a letter, make a call, drive by -- or something.
If all else fails, call Animal Control or the Sheriff's office.
In general I'd agree that dogs frequently roaming off leash, especially those who routinely annoy neighboring dogs with impunity, can inspire frustration in both fellow dogs and their owners, and become a menace in other ways as well. At the same time, there are usually ways to deal with such issues and in any event, they are not unique to where you live.

It's fawn time. People must keep their dogs from harassing the wildlife. Perhaps the DOW can help.

I live near Woodside, and dogs off leash can be an issue. Know that in Jeffco at least, the dogs CAN be off leash IF they are staying on their home property.

Had this problem a couple years back with a woman who called animal control because my dogs were loose ON MY DECK, all while she beat her dog for wanting to come visit mine, Yes, literally beat him. Guess who won that? Me - since my dogs were over 100 feet within my property line. OH, and animal control visited them when I reported the abuse she heaped on her dog. I've never seen them again.

So as others have said, it is a people problem. Currently there is small white dog that looks like a bischon, and her even smaller black chiuaua/terrier buddy bothering us (if you know who owns these dogs, please speak to them!)

Almost all my neighbors have dogs, and all our neighbors are friendly and keep their dogs in good control - even those off lead. Most stay on their own property or walk nicely with their owners.

If these neighbors are jerks like that, call animal control every time you see their dogs loose - get pictures as well, showing where the dog actually is. It helps animal control (had this from the deputy's mouth.)

We live in Woodside and a neighbor bought a house "dirt cheap" and now has taken the "high road" and is trying to control everybody. Wants everybody to keep their dogs in and quiet during the day so she can leave her dogs out.

Well, to play Devil's Advocate, your dogs should not be barking for extended times regardless of what is beyond the fence. If she lets hers out then you should have recourse and do with Animal Control. One bad act by one party does not excuse a bad act by the next. Keep your dogs quiet then you will have something to complain about. Until then your other neighbor has two people to complain about. Just givin' a third party view.

My two wonderful dogs, who are beloved members of direct and extended family, have turned out to be surprisingly defensive when they meet new people and fellow dogs at first glance. The frisky little one in particular (the big one's sister) is excitable and can be over-protective. I consider this to be my problem, not my neighbors' problem: they're under my control and quietly, or they are in Time Out... six of one.

agreed - not a woodside issue, but a whole mountain area problem
we had major issues here with loose dogs, did the reporting, the photo taking, the ticketing, the court appearances - and now word is out that they are not tolerated - and we don't have the problem anymore - but it took three neighbors all doing the reporting

now if we could only figure out how to deal with the incessant barking!

 Of the various places we've lived in from Hilldale Pines through Bailey, the one that the neighbor's dog enjoyed most was along a waterway surrounded by a granite-walled canyon. (Not Woodside, in other words.) I swear, that puppy had the Super Bowl amphitheater thing going: bark once, echo thrice.  His companion was silent....so he barked back and forth to himself...all night, every night. Sometimes it was unclear whether he understood that was his own voice -- or not. :rof laughing:

Someone who bought a home in Woodside recently is being unreasonable about the dogs in the neighborhood. They bought their house "dirt cheap" and think they are special or something. How do you deal with a nosey, unhappy neighbor that wants to make all of their neighbors miserable by telling them they should not leave their dogs outside "during the day". They are ruining the neighborhood, making it miserable with unreasonable requests. If you know anyone that is looking to move to Woodside, tell them not to because they will have "newbies" who want to police everyone else's life make their life and dogs miserable.

I'm afraid you will find people in all the neighborhoods in this area who are persnickety about other people's dogs. Mine don't bark unreasonably, but they do stay out during the day (in a pen) and when other neighbors either allow their dogs to bark all day, or allow them to run loose through the neighborhood and my yard, mine are going to bark at them. They are dogs!! I do my best to ensure they are not a nuisance, I have an ultrasonic anti-bark thing out and bark collars if need be. However, if my dogs are barking because a strange dog is running through their yard, I can't really blame them. Have you tried talking to this neighbor? Maybe there's a certain time of day she has to sleep or something that can be worked out?
