ya did good, wt, as hard as it was!
she really was adorable!
the 'wives tale of 'mothers rejecting their young because of human scent is just that - a wives' tale...more likely, the mother relocates - in some species they do that naturally so as not to invite predators with their smell -
I'll have to call the vet to get that number, but what you could do is call your local vet and ask them - that's how I found her -

Thanks, but I'll not need the number now...if the little cutie shows up again, I'll put it down the rabbit hole again!!! Or move it to the cabins by the pond.

if that baby bunny is truly abandoned, it will not survive out there. a fox or bird of prey will snatch it up. If it is truly on it's own, you should try to get it to a rehabber to keep until it's big enough to survive.

Whatever you do, I enjoyed seeing the photos SO much!!! Adorable! I am a sucker for bunnies too :)

My Dad raised them for us to eat, but my sister and I could NOT eat one and Mom refused to cook them. So I had lots of bunnies to play with for a long time! :) They are easily house trained.

Now I'm worried! I'll watch this morning for the mother.

Spotted the bunny mommy at 5:44AM, all is well, would like to catch a glimpse of Buns though.

Of course, that's what I'd do as a mother, why didn't I think of that? I feel better now. Hope Buns isn't grounded all summer. The little thing really needs to get dog savvy!

My dad brought a baby bunny home to us. The mother had been killed and the bunnies were cared for until they could leave home. But this bunny didn't leave. It had a deformed leg.

A short time later we took it to our grandmother's when we went to visit. We had it in a big, tall box that blew over on the back porch and the bunny escaped.

We saw it for years afterward when we visited. It had a limp. Better that it was in the city and had plenty to eat in the yards than out in the wilds of the mountains of MD/PA.

BTW, three weeks ago our Luke (dachshund) killed a baby bunny and ate half of it before I caught him and removed it. The other bunny has moved to the woodpile.

Just saw Buns, she/he stopped and looked at me for a long time and then went down the rabbit hole.

Those microseconds of connection between man and animal just seem to make the superficial problems we deal with day-to-day melt away in one magical moment. This is almost a haiku:

Stopped and looked at me
For a long time and then went
Down the rabbit hole.

Now though the ranch is under pre-evacuation .....have my doubts about letting him or her go last night.
