Didn't George Clooney have a severe spinal cord neck injury that caused spinal fluid to leak out into his head. I guess it was pretty bad. Maybe It's something like that going on?? I'm hoping he gets better real soon Hamm.

Continuing my prayers for all concerned with Keith and his situation. Praying the answers come soon and he can be restored to health.

The specialist wants to do surgery, TODAY!
This is the specialist they brought in from Sweden. The area is c1-c2 so if anything went wrong, he would be paralysed from the neck down.
We are waiting to get the MRI today to see if there is any improvement since he has been on antibiotics for a week now.
If there isn't improvement, some hard decisions have to be made.
Needless to say, Keith hasn't worked since the accident and his insurance will be running out soon. He doesn't have any income to pay Cobra so I hope the assistance he applied for comes through QUICKLY.
I spent almost the entire weekend at the hospital and this has been real tough on everyone.

I am praying for you guys.

The MRI yesterday showed a decrease in the amount of fluid, so it looks like the antibiotics are helping. He'll need them via I.V. for 6 weeks. The specialist still wants to sample the fluid so they know exactly what they are treating but that is a very risky procedure. I met with Keith last night and signed a power of attorney, and witnessed his living will and advanced directives. (Just in case) He doesn't want to do the surgery just yet, even though the specialist recommends it. The MRI also showed some swelling in a verterbral artery so they did another Cat Scan and I haven't heard results of that yet. So he remains in the hospital.
Razzy misses him, I stopped in and saw her. She has also developed a cough and I am wondering if it is kennel cough? I don't know where she would have gotten it, but I'm going to try to get her into Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital soon. (I don't know when or how yet, but I'll get it done.)

Ugh, so I called Harrison Memorial and because Keith isn't working, Razzy can no longer be a patient there. That sounds backwards to me but I guess they offer a discount for low income, and not no income.
Where else can I take her?

I have a call into Planned Pethood and I'm waiting for a call back. That is who Harrison Memorial and EAPL told me to call.
I guess they have low cost vet services and also have a sliding scale fee program. If that is the case, I should be able to cover the cost myself. I've also had a generous offer to help, but would hate to have to do so.
I never knew there were so many programs for pet parents in need. How very awesome.

Razzy has appointment tomorrow at Lakeside Animal Hospital. EAPL is covering the first $50.00 of her visit. (Amazing people)
The visit should be $35.00 and the meds shouldn't bee too much if she needs them. I'm sure I can cover whatever goes over $50.00.

The Specialist wants to put a plate in Keith's neck for stability. The bone has shown some degeneration. Surgery is looking like the only option.

What a life changer this accident is.
I hope he has a good lawyer and is going after anyone and
everyone on this and that includes the car rental place for leasing out known defective cars and the manufacturer.

So Thursday is the surgery. Spinal fusion from c1-c4. Keith does have a lawyer and all options are being explored. First and most important is his surgery and recovery. Thank you to everyone who has helped and all who have offered to help and those who have prayed.
