Our thoughts are with the Davis family and the firefighter family today.
It will be a difficult day. |

A memorial fund has also been set up in his name. To donate, go to any US Bank and ask for the Jeff Davis Memorial Fund.

My deepest sympathies, and you are welcome, Mo'.
Although it may or may not be official, there may be presence of other fire apparatus at the service. This particular show of solidarity and acknowledgement from fellow departments is always moving and shows the public the brotherhood that stems from on the scene trust- a firefighter knows he will for eternity have at least one buddy to go through every crisis a mortal life will experience. |

The fire community is a close community and support is expected to be very strong. Jeff was not only fire chief but he was an incident commander with the JeffCo Incident Mgmt Team. Another hole that his passing will leave. Blessings of peace and comfort in Christ to Heather and the kids from one who knows...

It was a VERY impressive show of solidarity, (and community).
Crews from all over the area arrived with their shiny trucks and in their dress uniforms. (They clean up real purdy too! I have never seen so many shiny shoes in Bailey!) Just prior to the start of the service, Firefighters stood in formation in the upper parking lot behind the church. The driveway was lined on either side with them standing at attention. The Hot Shot crew was at one end. It was a very impressive sight. The bagpipes sounded as the Color Guard went past & family was escorted in, followed by the Chief. (Jeff's urn was in a glass case with his picture on the side.) The Eulogy and tributes were very moving. The Firefighters Prayer was read. Jeff's Mother read the poem "The Dash", ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... VLqkExH5ww ) and Jeff's Father told wonderful stories about Jeff's desire to be a firefighter since age 3, when they got him a Firemans (toy) kit. Neil Thoreson shared stories about training for his EMT certification and how Jeff encouraged & supported him. He also told some pretty funny stories that provide some great comic relief- (Jeff was a pretty funny guy!) The service continued with Firefighter protocol. The traditional Bell Service- (Clanging of the fire bell- 3 rounds of 3 rings.) echoed in the room. The presentation of the helmets & flag to the family was somber indeed. The service ended with the Final Call from Dispatch. Jeff's name & call number came over the scanner- "Final Call, Jeff Davis signing off- Go with God, Chief." ![]() (I may not be quoting that exactly- forgive me- there was much sobbing at that point.) Then we all headed towards Station 2 for the reception. It was quite the sight to see all those firetrucks head up Crow Hill passing under a HUGE flag that was suspended between 2 ladder trucks at the base of the hill. Flight for Life flew overhead as if to lead the way. It was a very fitting tribute.
Miss Gail, Jeff's Admin, did a spectacular job of organizing this. The volunteers from the Church kept the sandwiches and coffee coming at the reception. The crews from the department and SO kept traffic flowing. There was much community involvement and spirit- and that's just how we roll! Jeff woulda been so proud!
