I second both suggestions and you can also try EAPL.com (Evergreen Animal Protective League). You can also try Denver Municipal AS (because it's good to get animals out of that place)!

I have a Mini Aussie foster dog right now. Pepper is about 32 pounds and wonderful. She is such a good girl with other dogs, cats and horses so far. She is about 10 years old and has NO bad habits. You never need a leash and she is totally housebroke. Her picture is on http://www.nhcdrescuecolorado.com/

Aussies are great but depends on where in Lakewood she would live. Need tons of attention and exercise if she is not herding animals.

Oh Gosh! Sorry, No bad habits! None at all. This girl is 10 years old and does not need lots of exercise. Her stanima has improved since she has been with me, but she is happy to just hang around.
