I would like to comment on one other thing. My husband I were both in the Lakewood area when we received a text message that there was a fire in the area. When we looked, we saw the smoke and our hearts sank! We share our home with many animals and they are our 'kids.' I have heard that the text was sent in error but I cannot be more thankful for that little mistake. We never received notice of mandatory evacuation but I was so grateful to receive notice that there was a fire close enough to be a threat to my family.

I am so very sorry for the losses that have been suffered by so many. I don't want credit but would love to donate in honor of those with losses and in memory of those we have lost and that is probably the best way for me to do so.

And now I read this on 9news:

and while I am still very thankful for the mistake that made me aware, I am so very sad for all the other mistakes that were made.

Thank You Message from the Type 1 IMT
Click on link to see a message from the Type 1 Incident Management Team from the Great Basin:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_3vHjX ... edit?pli=1

Our Great Basin Type 1 Incident Management Team would like express their thanks and gratitude for the support and cooperation that the community has shown us and the firefighters we support during the Lower North Fork Fire. We realize the tremendous impacts that the fire has had on the local area and our hearts go out to all the people who were affected and especially to those who suffered losses. But even in these trying times, the spirit of the community rose up to help support and those who needed it. Everyone should be proud of that fact and be reassured that the community you live in can respond and recover from the tragic events that have occurred. The outpouring of support for our team and the firefighters has been overwhelming. The food, services, volunteer hours and kind words via notes, letters and children’s posters have been an inspiration to us and the firefighters. We cannot fully express the gratitude that we have for what you have done for all of us.

As this incident winds down and we all go back to our own homes, be assured we will never forget the support that you have shown us. A heartfelt thanks goes out to all of you. You will be in our thoughts and we wish everyone the best as you recover from this unfortunate event.

Incident Commander,

Rich Harvey

Rich is a class act... I had a couple of conversations with him and he is one of many hero's that worked the North Fork fire... (aka Kuehster Rd fire)

Thank YOU Rich!

LNFF Review: State Forest Service Violated Own Burn Plan

http://www.thedenverchannel.com/news/30 ... etail.html

The article provides a link to a 152 page report, but alas...when you click on the link, the State's website says the report cannot be found :scratchchin:

Anyone know where this report can be accessed?

My stomach turned and my heart sank at page 27.

I understand hindsight is 20/20 but I'm struggling with the information that I'm reading (all of the warnings from the NWS that were seemingly ignored) and seeing that "The fire was declared an escaped fire at 1430." with emergency notification and action coming much later--way too late, even given the 911 calls that were made (in the early afternoon hours) and met with, it's okay, it's a controlled burn. And, You don't have to call every time you smell smoke...blah blah blah

Hopefully the dispatchers that took those calls and made responses like those above are reading this same report and wondering why the hell they responded like they did. Oh, who am I kidding...

I did update all of my information to receive reverse 911's (based on info that watermanofevergreen posted in another thread), and JeffCo tested their system earlier this week...I received a call on my cell, one on my home phone line, a text message on my cell and an email. Let's hope it works in real situations, as well.

I am curious, can you confirm it does not leave a message if you don't pick up the phone? That's what I read from the fire threads and information and that's what I got today in my own county.
