remember your turn radius has changed ... alot!! Its amazing how many people sideswipe something because they forgot just how much longer their new rig is.

Yes the tailend moves sideways when you turn, keep an eye on your rear view mirrors to make sure your not taking out another vehicle or a gas pump...

rest areas and view points (especially in UT) are great places to pull off to eat or walk the dogs :). We just came back from CA in our new (new to us) RV and had a great time - also try to take your time getting to and from your destination - lots of things to see. Also RV's go slower than your car so plan on not getting to your destination as quickly.

Because of the cost of gas we stay mostly in Colorado at State Parks during the summer. They are wonderful and very reasonable with hookups. Try Stagecoach State Park in Steamboat Springs, Navajo State Park at the New Mexico boarder. Ridgeway State Park near Ouray. Rangers Lake in Walden where all the moose are. Blue Mesa at Gunnison, Redstone Campground in Redstone, Colorado. Have Fun!

I'm SO jealous! One thing the saleman told us when we had our RV was to not get nervous about people who WILL tailgate you...they should've left 10 minutes earlier if they're in that big of a hurry! Also be ABSOLUTLY SURE the drain hose is on TIGHT when you drain the black water tank....saw that happen to somebody once, not pretty all! :barf:

I've learned a lot from reading rv.net. Lots of people with lots of experience and good advice. Just remember: some advice will only be worth what you paid for it. :-)

Tires, 10 ply is better on trailers and RV's.
Roadside safety kit ie: flares reflectors etc.
12 volt air pump.
small tool kit, cresent wrench, hammer, misc hand tools, tie wire, duct tape.
jumper cables, water jug, lanterns, small propane tanks, rope, camp chairs, shovel, lighter matches.
Spices, aluminum foil, candels like the bug repelent kind.
Camera, duct tape, did I say that already, can't have enough.
Your brand of oil, etc.
We have been doing this for years and this is part of the Hubby's list as I am reading it.

know what? no need to go anywhere else! there is more to discover right there in your own backyard than you can do in a lifetime! i have been exploring colorado since 1999, and there are still places i haven't been and i lived there for 3 years!

I second what Stecat said about the money for gas. LOL

What we did when we bought our camper is just list things that we like having on a daily basis, then tried to either downsize, buy eco friendly products (that is really important up there), and you would be surprised to find all the little necessities and luxuries they have for RV's, especially at camping world. They are very pricey on their products, but you can go in there and get good ideas of things you might like to have...then go onto amazon, sierratradingpost.com or other camping online websites and you can get things MUCH cheaper.

Good luck! have fun! One place you must go is the Grand Mesa Area.
