Oh Natalie, what a breathtaking brother you spent such time with! And how equally breathtaking you are without him, I am crushed for you. How very proud and grateful you must be, his grand spirit shines through in the picture you posted.

Thank you all, each day that goes by is a little more bearable. We miss him so much.

What a big, handsome boy! I am so sorry for your tremendous loss.

I'm sure you're probably familiar with this, but here's a really nice rendition of the Rainbow Bridge:

Yesterday was our old cat, Axle's last day. We are terribly sad about it and already miss him.

Axle was just a GREAT cat. . .one of the most amazing cats. He was so smart and so fun to be with. He knew lots of words and really "got it". He loved being part of the family and knew he was very popular. He slept with me every single night, demanded to be tucked in UNDER the covers, snuggled under my arm, head right next to mine. In the night, he would sniff my eyebrows and eyelashes and demand that I turn over to face him. Sometimes he was really rude about it and sat on my head. But mostly he was a gentleman with incredibly good manners.

My husband I left work early so we could take him to the vet by 5:00. Before we left for the veterinary appointment, I groomed him one last time; washed his face with a clean, warm rag, brushed his chin and cheeks. He enjoyed his ride in the car, looking at me the whole time and making those tiny, little quiet meows. . .our favorite. He wasn't the least stressed out by being at the vet (Conifer Veterinary Hospital) and I will be forever grateful that Dr. Palmini gave him a VERY easy, completely peaceful exit. He really just nodded off to sleep. I am relieved that it's over.

Well, that's the end of that. . .the conclusion of nearly TWENTY truly grand years. Of course, there will be more great times ahead and I do want to adopt two baby kittens as soon as I can find them. . .but for now. . .this just so totally blows.

I'm so glad you were able to be with Axle at the end of his life, as I can tell he so enriched yours. My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry that your wonderful time with dear Axle came to it's end. He's a handsome Tabby. Twenty years is a fine rich life for a beloved pet. They do leave a huge void, though. I admire you for wanting to take on 2 new kids right away. There are always worthy beings in need of a loving home, which I know yours will be. I hope the empty place is eased a little by new kittens. Good Luck!

grullo - I have an Oreo - but he is a dalmatian. I love the pix with the saddle on him. Sorry to see that they have all passed. Except for Freckles - I am sure you meant dec 2005? I am sure they are all playing together, kitty rides horse, and rat rides kitty as they lope off into the sunset.

This is something that helped my wife and I after loosing 4 of our 6 cats in a short period of time.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown..."
