We lost our Thatcher today due to gingiva squamous cell carcinoma (mouth cancer). It was so quick, just 6 weeks after diagnosis.

Thatcher was a beautiful Old English Sheepdog. He was the nephew of a Grand Champion, a runner-up at Westminster. But just looking at him and knowing him, you'd never have guessed. He was a goofy, lovable, uncoordinated, loudmouth that needed constant attention, constant petting & constant love. And he gave back that all back ten-fold. I am fortunate enough to be able to work from home. His bed lies just 3 feet from my desk. He has been by my side almost 24/7 for the past 6 years of his all-too-short 9 years in our life. He has listened to me talk on the phone, peck at my keyboard and cuss my internet outages. And probably talk to myself a bit too. And he complained not once.

I am so thankful his pain has now ended. I am so sorry I couldn't do more for him. I am so fortunate to have had him in my life these so few years. He was my companion. He was my friend. He was so, so loved.

I will always keep that bed by my side. Good-bye.

How hard it is to lose these almost constant companions who steal our hearts and return our love so un-selfishly and with no condemnation of our many faults. I am so sorry.

So very sorry for your loss, david1106. :( It truly does leave a hole in your heart.

If it would give you comfort, you might consider asking beachrobin to add a star for Thatcher on her beautiful Rainbow Bridge Website

Nine years ago we lost our sweet 'benji look alike' Spuddy to Immune Mediated Hemolytic Anemia. Each year we take this opportunity to remember him and bring to light this horrible illness.

Still miss him so much.
2007 was a tough year as we lost Mariah Valentines Day, Lucky our gentle giant to lymphoma February 23, Spuddy in August, and beautiful Owl in November. ♡♡♡♡

Mine is now 15 and I know her days are numbered but am thankful she is still part of my life. She is not suffering and still seems happy though her mobility is dwindling.

I have always said that "dogs don't live long enough when you consider how attached we become to them".

Cherish what we all still have.

Jetstream, you are blessed. So happy that your babies are enjoying a long life with you!

Spuddy was only six, a young age for a small dog.♡

I remember that day! In fact, all of those days. Wasn't it Spuddy that saved my Joey's life though, from you posting about what had happened? We caught it in time to save Joey.
