Our dear cat Orson passed away in his sleep last night. He was 18 1/2 years old. We are better for having had you in our lives. You were loved and we'll miss you old friend.

If you have a picture of Orson that you can email to me, I'll be happy to add it to your tribute post.

We recently lost our beloved Chaz. He was treasured, and he is missed dearly. His warmth and sweetness touched our hearts, and we'll never be the same. I found this poem that seems fitting...

Image

If you’ve ever known the welcome
of a barking ball of hair-
a sloppy kiss, a friendly paw
a quiet adoring stare-
if you’ve ever had a special friend
to share a tear or two-
or maybe just a wagging tail
to lift you when you’re blue-
if you’ve ever lost your troubles
in a joyful romp outside-
or shared your fears with listening ears
that never left your side-
if you’ve ever felt the wrenching pain
that only death can send-
then you have lost not just a dog
you’ve truly lost a friend.

Here's to Max aka Maxxie! :cheers!:

Just found out that BIL arrived in Iraq on Friday... The same day his wife had to put his 8 year old German Rottweiler down... BIL's pretty bummed & trying to stay focused on his mission while grieving at this loss...

Since he's with a bunch of new guys, he's having to deal with it internally...
I really feel for him!

Bye Max!! Image

Our beloved Frieda passed away today -- age almost 11.
She was a special Weimaraner and never met a person she did not hit up for leaning and petting. She was the perfect anthem for the Rolling Stones song "Baby, Don't Stop."
Weimaraners and other deep chested breeds are very susceptible to gastric torsion bloat, and while we monitored carefully what she ate and drank, she got into elk poop this afternoon. If you have such a breed, please beware that this can be an issue and keep an eye on them.
She is across the rainbow bridge without further fears of old age. We thank the wonderful Mt Parks Vet Hospital & Dr Jody Engel for their loving care over the years.

Such a young vibrant life...she filled our days with joy and spirit...
Zoey Ann was adopted by my 6 yr old grandaughter after the loss of her beloved black lab Cally who was run over by a truck at Easter time 2005. On the way home to Conifer from that tragedy, we stopped at the Colo Springs Humane Society and saw the cutest Sharpei and Jack Russell mix puppy...with a small heart shape on her left side belly...you can see it in her beach photo (she has on her bathing suit and visor, all that is missing is the sun tan oil!)

Zoey Ann had a series of seizure from Nov 2005 until Sun morning Jan 22 and slipped peacefully away Mon Jan 23. Zoey Ann would have been 1 yr old Jan 26 2006..we will celebrate her life on Friday Jan 27 with a party in her honor and a BIG peanut butter doggie cake (her favorite)...with her 2 "brothers", Beau and Brody (2 grey mini Italian greyhounds).

Zoey Ann was a very special puppy who filled a huge gap in our hearts after our loss of Cally...now she and Cally can run free, be well and safe for eternity...hugs and kisses Zoey Ann...stop by sometime, we will keep a light on and a peanut butter cake in the pantry for you...

Love,

Sissie, Momma and Nonna

Snowdaze:
I loved your poem. Our golden retriever passed away a week ago; was 13-1/2 years old. It sure was difficult. Someday I'll figure out how to post his picture here. What a great dog, and definitely our best friend. He had three beds (one orthopedic and heated!) and never spent a night outside; a very expensive food station (had to look good!), and was on food for the past 10 years that we could only get from the vet. He had leg problems... we called him the $10,000,000 dollar dog! Yes, he was lucky to have us... I'm not sure that another family would have put up with all of his costs through the years, but we were luckier to have him. I always thought those people who treated their pets like humans were a bit odd. I guess we were part of that group after all.

Miranda. I miss you already, even though you have been gone just a few hours. You could be a pain sometimes, especially when you bit my toe, but I still love you..
