Post subject:  Books for Troops

Sorry, folks. I'm not on line all that often.

Henry, thanks for the offer. I'll drop the books off at the Loaf and Jug in Aspen Park this evening on the way home from work.

Does anyone know if both L&J's take the donations?

Thanks for all your replies. I think they'll not only like the mysteries, but also the games and riddles. I forgot to add the Games magazines that I have. Those will keep them from getting bored! I'll drop them off sometime this weekend.

Wish I could afford to do more for the troops.

You can drop them off at the L&J on the northbound side of 285. Thanks, 2wlady. The troops really appreciate this.

So what did I do yesterday? I went to the SOUTH side Loaf and Jug. Then I went to the Bailey Country Store. Neither of them ever heard of this.

What will I do today? Stop at the L&J on the NORTH side of 285. I'm determined to get these books to the troops. And I'll add the Games magazines I don't have in the car at the moment.

Thanks for all the responses, folks. I'm being called by DH so am signing off.

I feel like a report doing a play-by-play. But we're leaving now and I'll search out the box at the Loaf and Jug on the north side until we find it.

Thanks again.

Henry,

Let me know if you need anything hand delivered. Our marching orders have come through, and it'll be Afghanistan in the spring.

snow that you and your company for helping us by adopting this unit.

For those of who are wondering what this is about we printed ( OK Henry printed) and distibuted a copy of Thomas holding the banner so many of you signed out side his barracks in Afganistan. We gave these to all of our buissness partners in this effort as a small token of our thanks.

This weekend, I received a package from Thomas in Afghanistan, on behalf of the communities of Pine, Conifer and Bailey.

It contained a United States Flag and a special certificate that says:

"This is to certify that the accompanying American flag was flown over Camp Julien in the face of the enemy by Officers, NCOs, and Soldiers of the 1st Embedded Training Task Force Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan, on July 4, 2004. May this certificate be a testament to the soldiers who died in combat to preserve the freedom of others."

Presented to:

The Communities of Pine, Conifer and Bailey, Colorado.

It is signed by Thomas and the commanding officer of the 45th Infantry Brigade.

I think it would be nice if we make this available to local schools and fire departments to fly (and others as the Pinecam 45th Infantry Brigade directs)

Agree. I would be overwhelmingly proud to see it and touch it. I can't imagine anyone in our region who wouldn't be.

That he entrusted such a gift to Pinecam is a humbling honor. That he dedicated it to our foothills communities is an acknowledgement of their humanity.

These are the moments when I beam with pride and thank God for allowing me to be a part of this community.
