Memorial Day 2006

May 29, 2006
This day is almost over. How many of you took a moment to appreciate the sacrifice made by our Veterans?
They did not need to die in war to be listed as a casualty in my mind.
So very many have died in war protecting our country, our freedom and the beliefs that we believe are inalienable. I salute the deceased and I thank you.
then there are these

There are very few left from World War 1

My Father survives WWII and was an Army Tech Sgt

Art's father survived Korea as an Airborne Ranger

So many College classmates returned from Vietnam to continue classes and help the Country they served to protect.

Henry served honorably in Vietnam and has done so much for our
community, Including teaching me to respect those who are currently serving.

Cos also served well in the Vietnam conflict and is respected

Jesse that TSAC supported last year is readying to return to Baghdad for a second tour

Ranger Bob was supported by TSAC and made impressive improvements for the Afghani people

We have many current and former Pinecammers, sorry if I left you out
This list could go on forever

Memorial day is a day of respecting those who have lost their lives in defense of the USA. Allow me to take it one step further.

I respect those that have stood behind these men and women. Suffered the loss of life and of mental and physical incapacity. Those that have moved forward and continued to believe that this is a great country.

For those currently serving, Be brave, and strong, and true.
My Day has been dedicated to all of you, past and present
Thank you and I salute you :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :wavingflag: :wavingflag:

A life lost in battle unremembered is a soldier's worst fear.

May Gregg Hartness, Earl Howard , Richard Gallo and all rest in peace.
My grandfather was gassed in the trenches of France for the freedom of Europe and for the freedom of France to criticize the US. A great-uncle is buried in the Philippines after the disagreements with Spain at the turn of the century. We need to remember those who gave their lives so that we can live the life we do. My Dad had many dismal years in the Pacific as a Marine during our "disagreement" with the Japanese. The majority of his platoon never made it home. During WW2 my grandmother had 8 kids in service at the same time.
We have many debts to pay to our Veterans, but cannot ever repay them fully. Thank you all.

Thanks to my Dad for serving in Korea. He never speaks of it. His honorable discharge hangs over his dresser in the bedroom.

Thanks to the seven young men I know who joined after 9/11. They are currently serving in the Navy, Army, Coast Guard and Marines.

Thanks to Chris Montowski who is currently serving on an oil rig in Iraq. Yesterday, the rig right next to him blew up, taking many lives.

And thanks to the many people who stopped by the TSAC event on Saturday. There were those who served in the past and those who's loved ones are currently in service. There were also many kind individuals who showed their gratitude for our men and women representing our country.
