As a 10+ year veteran of the US Air Force I'd like to thank all that have served, and all that are currently serving, our great country.

Best wishes to my son, Kyle, and all the other men and women of the armed forces that are in harms way around the world.

I salute you all.

I second that, and thank you and your children for their service - my dad was a B-17 pilot in WWII, London to Germany, and his bomber jacket is my most prized possession. We owe our servicemen and women a huge debt of gratitude - thanks for the post.

I think every veteran should have this day off with pay. Veterans have missed out on so many family birthdays and holidays that this should be an idea that is implemented nationwide to give back to the veterans for their service to this country and the time they have sacrificed. I say...
"Thank you" to all the veterans. :wavingflag:

OK, folks, although it was mentioned in the Shoutbox, and Yellow Ribbon Lounge, I think we should also recognize our veterans in an official topic in the Living Room as well. Especially since there are only 9 entries in the Yellow Ribbon Lounge as I write this. That's pathetic!

Also, a belated Happy Birthday to all Marines, for your birthday yesterday.

Think about how our country came to be:

American Revolution--8 years of fighting the British under horrible conditions.
Again, fighting the Brits in 1812, losing the Capital of our country in the process.
The Civil War, our most horrendous for losses.
The Spanish-American War
WWI - Our entry into the world arena
WWII - Many of our parents are still living who survived that one; my dad was at D-Day and throughout Europe and rarely talked about it
Vietnam - that one still tears us apart
Granada - Panama
Gulf War; Afghanistan; Iraq

Thanks to all the brave men and women who have served our country and bought at freedom at the loss of lives and livelihood. You're the best!
