FYI. Veterans with an Honorable Discharge can begin shopping Nov. 11 on-line at Exchanges.

It’s available to all honorably discharged veterans of U.S. armed forces; veterans should visit http://www.vetverify.org before trying to shop, to verify their eligibility. ...It’s estimated that 18 million new shoppers are eligible for the benefit, which was approved by the Defense Department in January.

It applies only to online exchange shopping, not to shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, and it doesn’t extend to veterans’ dependents.

Previously, all exchange shopping privileges (including online shopping) were available only to active-duty, reserve and Guard members, retirees, 100 percent disabled veterans and their dependent family members, and certain others.

The websites are: http://www.shopmyexchange.com; http://www.mynavyexchange.com; and http://www.shopcgx.com. Any eligible shopper can shop at any of the websites. Actual exchange prices aren’t visible until you log in as an authorized shopper, and you don’t have to add sales tax.

I was very excited about this program and both my wife and I have been allowed to beta test the program for several months now. It's a good program and I'm sure many will find it useful, especially the no sales tax aspect.

But honestly... There are better websites out there both in terms of selection and price.

However, the Exchange may have something military-related other sites don't have so it's worth a look. But...be sure to comparison shop. I did make one purchase...a patio set for a very good price...one of the daily specials. Other than that, they really aren't competitive in my opinion.
