An interesting tidbit about the plateau shown in the "view east from the camp" is that we refer to it as the Castle. It is a fortress that was begun by Alexander the Great, and is being converted into a police training center.

I wondered what that was on the mountain. It didn't look natural but I thought who would build something around a mountain top like that. Alexander the Great had big ideas and no concept of "I can't". I guess that's why he was so successful in whatever he tried.

When you' re not real busy, maybe you could send us some more pictures. Now that the snow is gone (I assume....), your area must look a lot different. I'm ready to post more of your pictures anytime, Ranger Bob! They are so interesting to work with and to look at and to see where you all are. What a different world from where we live.

I don't know, pacamom. Ranger Bob did not send along any captions. I'm hoping he appears early one morning soon and let's us know what the pictures are. I'm so curious about what the men are doing in that tent and why the older gentleman is wearing a soldier's hat in the next image. He has quite a smile, doesn't' he?

The one picture does have a caption - they are distributing rations - looks like dried beans.

What tent?

It was hard to find the caption in the one picture. Maybe image shack cut off the captions, because RB usually puts them on. If I was asked to pick Ranger Bob out of a group, that is exactly who I would pick. Don't they usually have their name on their uniforms?pic#4.

Pic number one looks like a woman in the Blue helmet and large backpack, media you suppose?
