:USA: Adopt A Soldier :USA:

Announcement
Our B Company soldiers are coming home sometime this summer! To all of you who adopted one of the soldiers below, a hearty Thank You!

TSAC is currently in contact with the Blacksheep Company for a list of soldiers that we can adopt in Afghanistan. If you haven't see how desolate the country where they are located, click here for pictures of Afghanistan. These soldiers will surely appreciate some news and a friendly, supportive word from home.

As soon as we receive word from Afghanistan, we will post a list of soldier's names who are not receiving mail and would especially appreciate being "adopted" by one of you!
If you want to do something on a more personal, one-on-one basis, why not adopt one or more of our soldiers? Please feel free to correspond with any of these young men and share your pride and admiration with them. You can send them letters, gifts, pictures, goodies, you-name-it addressed directly to them or to a select group ? your choice. Let these brave young patriots know how much they mean to us.

Rank definitions:
  • PV2 = Private Second Class
  • PFC = Private First Class
  • SPC = Specialist
  • SGT = Sergeant
  • SSG = Staff Sergeant

If you have any questions about adopting a soldier, please contact the committee at tsac@pinecam.com

That is not a problem. I have sent a package and letter to one of the men on the list. :USA:

Take it to the post office and send it Parcel Post. You'll need to seal and tape the package yourself, and fill out the mailing label and the customs forms. The forms can be gotten right at the post office.

Make sure that if the package is destined for Iraq that you address it:

Rank and Name
Company
Unit #
APO EA nnnnn-nnnn

If, however, the package is going to Afghanistan, do NOT put the rank in the name line.

Name (only)
Company
APO AE nnnnn

And remember; no firearms, munitions, chemicals, pork products or by-products, girlie magazines, and such. If in doubt ask the clerk at the post office to call up the latest mailing restrictions on their counter computer.

And don't forget to send your soldier a nice note. :patriot:

I printed out the list so I only bought things he could probably use toiletries and such and I did send one book. Since this was the first time I went small. I just needed to make sure I had addressed it the right way. it was something I felt compelled to do to thank them for the freedom we enjoy (I have three sons). I found out about it through Cos.

Sweetes; It's that small, personal gesture that has enduring value. :kewl:

If you only have one box, you can generalize the contents by saying "Toiletries and comfort items".

You will also have to write this into the customs declaration:

Certified to be a bona-fide gift for personal use of military personnel.

Sign and date the form and you're done.

Henry you are a real whiz! I didn't know that stuff about Afghanistan. :patriot:

We learned that lesson when we were supporting the 45th in Afghanistan. I checked with the post office a few days ago and the requirement still stands. It's kinda strange how the two countries differ in that regard.

My son just arrived in IRAQ and would be thrilled to get mail from people in Conifer, ETC..If you would like to drop him a line here is his info:

Rush, Christopher

<edit>

Thanks for all the kind words and emails I've received.

Edited by Bubbles
It is against Pinecam TSAC and maybe DOD policy to provide rank and APO addresses in a public forum. Letters to Christoper Rush will certainly be appreciated. I just request that you contact Colorado Babe via PM or TSAC@Piinecam.com for the address

There have been issues and we do not want to put our guys at any additional risk.
