My name is Ann. My husband, Gary, and I recently (mostly) finished construction of a log home on Baird Road in Conifer. This is going to be a summer home for us; we have lived in the Phoenix area since July of 1999 and are ready to - you got it - escape the heat.

Our son and his wife and 2 boys live in Centennial, so that's an added plus.

I have 3 horses and a pony, and I desperately want to get them up to the mountains and away from this beastly weather. (Today, American Airlines cancelled some of their flights because it was too hot to fly them. Yeah, it's a dry heat. Big deal.)

That's about it for now.

Welcome to the area and to Pinecam. :waving:

Too hot to fly?! and I thought it was hot up here, today. Welcome to the cool, too. :D

hot air less dense so airports would need VERY LONG runways to allow a plane to take off in that kind of heat. and I am with aspenleaf, it was HOT today! We are strong in winter but wimps in summer. welcome to the 'hood

Welcome! Hope you enjoy living here as much as we all do. Yes, you will be cooler, especially at night. Open the windows, no need to hear a darn air conditioner rumble all night. If you have not heard this yet, please, if you have small dogs or cats, don't let them out unsupervised. It's just not the regular predators but we have huge owls so small pets are not even safe on a deck in the evening. Would rather warn you than have a pet lost to that. Forgive me if you are allready aware. Lots of information on Pinecam and very friendly people.

Sadly true, Wily Fox.

Chakraz - thanks for the warning. We have indoor cats. Have tried several times in AZ to have barn cats to control the packrats, but they always disappear - Hawks, owls, coyotes...

Ann, we live in Cottonwood, where it is not as hot as Phoenix, but still pretty warm. As a long time owner of a cabin up Route 43, I can tell you for sure that you'll enjoy the cool mountain air--plus it's very low humidity levels. A great place to spend June and July away from the intense heat. Enjoy!!

I grew up in Phoenix and Tempe, lived there for 19 years. Later lived in Bailey for over 10 years. I am whining now because it is 94 degrees for a high today. Air conditioned house to air conditioned car to air conditioned building. Who is up for hide and seek at 9:00 p.m.? :)
