It will be loaded nachos at the BGR house. What's happening at yours?

Yesterday was my dear husband's birthday and I made him beef stroganoff from scratch (which I have made on his day for over 30 years...). So tonight is leftover beef stroganoff. He also wants strawberry shortcake for his birthday dessert so, in the summer, I buy ripe strawberries and freeze them just for his birthday. We'll have that again tonight also.

Tomorrow night is our nachos night. And, finally, avocados have come down in price so we'll have homemade guacamole on the nachos. I make shredded pork and freeze it in just the right size for our nacho suppers.

Deviled pork chops & oven roasted asparagus.

The former is an America's Test Kitchen recipe. I've only recently "discovered" the show on PBS. TWENTY years it's been around! I love that they explain the science behind the cooking process as they offer a foolproof way of preparing a dish.
I now firmly believe their 19th Anniversary Cookbook is all any cook would need. It has every recipe they've ever prepared on the show. Basics to specialties.
(The 20th anniversary edition [just released] has highlights & back stories, but less recipes)
Of course I cherish many cookbooks I have collected over the years & I'm in no hurry to kick them out of the kitchen, but the 19th edition is the one I would give as a wedding gift or to a young adult starting out on their own.

We just had our "after hike" bourbon sours and don't feel the muscle soreness from the hike at all. Supper will taste even better tonight.

Corn Beef & Cabbage.. Always a good St Paddy's day, but also a good Football Sunday Crock Pot! My recipe also includes red potatoes, on the medium size.
