Ok, my hippiness is coming out. I ordered a cheesemaking kit after doing ricotta and mozzarella successfully at our elevation. That took some learning as we need to get foods up to boil at a higher temp and for longer than specified. If you have used a kit, let me know how it went and any advice.

I am psyched. Once a hippie, always a hippie!

Hey there hippie earth-mama! ;)

I bought a kit years ago and did fine with the mozzarella (using raw milk). I don't recall needing to tweak the mozzarella recipe that came in the kit. But tried and tweaked the other recipes and nothing else worked.
After a couple of batches of mozzarella I decided store bought was good enough.

I know people who have purchased (or built) a cheese press and humidity/temperature controlled boxes.
Mostly they just grew mold. :thud:

I wish you huge success!! Please let us know how well it works for you.
