There is a confirmed wildland fire in Jefferson County north of Interstate 70, near the area of Golden Gate Canyon Road and Robinson Hill Road. Some torching has been reported, mutual aid has been requested and they are checking on the availability of aerial resources.

Update, 12:47--no structure threat at this time, nearest structures are 1.5 to 2 miles away from the fire.

Per channel 4 link above:
>Authorities said the fire was about 2 1/2 to 3 acres in size before 1 p.m. Friday.

This is the approximate area reported as North of Hwy 6, East of Douglas Mountain Drive: (revised at 1:55pm based on coords via scanner)
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&i ... 9&t=h&om=1

Per scanner traffic (thx MusherCubby!):
ATVs have arrived at the staging area, and are preparing to try to get closer to the fire. "Lots of torching" has been reported by lookouts. A SEAT is enroute but no ETA is available yet.

Update @1:55
Size is now estimated at 6-10 acres. Jeffco IMT team is being called for. Evergreen is already responding. It is believed to be located within the Centennial Cone Open Space Park. SEAT has not arrived yet but is being advised of hazards like powerlines, etc.

Smoke from this fire is being sighted in several locations in Evergreen and mistaken for new fires. At this time no new fires in Evergreen are known.

Firefighters from many departments are on-scene. We aren't hearing much for substantial radio traffic though.

We have heard Evergreen units referring to waiting "for a few more drops", implying that some air attack is ongoing. More info as we get it. Luckily this is in a very sparsely inhabited area.

I've heard division assignments up to Lima (L, alphabetically) this morning, so there is quite a bit of activity.

"Pike Shots", presumably a hotshot crew from Pike National Forest, has been mentioned.

Little else of significant detail is available.
