Approx. 8:30pm last night I saw some strangely-acting bright lights in the southeastern sky. Anyone else see anything weird? Looking to corroborate :) Got a few decent pics.

Not sure what you might have seen. But earlier yesterday there were some Osprey's (vertical take-off/landing) aircraft in the area.

Not sure if related but yesterday was the anniversary of the formation of the United States Air Force. The Red Arrows (Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team) was in Colorado this week for a celebration at the USAF Academy. I wouldn't doubt that there are all kind of aircraft in Colorado that is not normally seen here either - like the Ospreys.

I don't know for sure but would not doubt that there was a fireworks show at the Academy last evening, which is to the Southeast, and would explain strange lights...

So with this slow crappy Internet I can't upload images to my post that are more than 2mb or so without the web site doing something weird. I did make a gif of the pictures I took though and posted them to my IG the other day. About the gif: I tried taking a video but it just came out pitch black so instead, I took a bunch of one-second exposures (which is why you see a long light trail for the normal air traffic in the pictures) with my DSLR and just made a gif showing one after the other. It is still potato quality because I'm not an AV specialist but at least it's something :)

I like the Osprey theory, I think that is the most likely. I did read about the Red Arrows but I thought they just sent jets, and these were not jets. It's just that the lights were so bright compared to normal air traffic that seemed so out of place, and sometimes one of the three lights would move off and then come back to the formation a minute or two later.
