We have a neighbor and friend that needs our communities help and support.

Bob was diagnosed with Melanoma skin cancer a few years back, which was
fought with Chemo and Bob beat it.
The sad thing about cancer is that it returned with a vengeance thru out
his body. He is unable to work and living expenses are piling up. He makes
several trips to Denver each week to see specialists.

To make matters worse Bob's wife Sandy had to resign with Jeffco Schools
because of medical issues.

The good news is that they both have health insurance.

Please send them your prayers!

Have they been in touch with the Mountain Resource Center and other local help?

I've been up here for 25 years and I didn't know that the Mountain Resource Center could help with that. Thanks so much!

Are there any needs that maybe someone who would like to try to pay back to the community could help with them with? Cleaning, errands, small fix-it jobs? I was shown kindness and am looking for a way to pay that forward.

Prayers for your friends. It sounds like Bob might be qualified for his Social Security Disabilty - I would suggest that as a good avenue for them to look into long term. There should be an advocate available to him at the hospital that might have some ideas too, perhaps any short term help that might be available. If they live here in the hills they could also check with the Mountain Resource Center because they may be able to render some help as well.

He is on unemployment- I mentioned to his wife in regards to the Mtn Resource Center, I put a charity jug up at Kum & Go, my son is getting ready to deliver a 2nd truck load of firewood and I will do a Bingo or pancake breakfast at some time in the near future for a fundraiser. I just have no idea on how to put it on!

You might also contact Rocky Mountain Rural Health to see if there is anything they could assist with. 719-836-2169 or info@rmrh.org

Mountain Resource Center can walk them through and help them navigate things like SNAP (food assistance) and PEAK (utility assistance), etc. They should call and go there for help.

http://mrcco.org/index.php/programs3/ce ... t-services

they may be able to help navigate social security disability as well
