My brother lost his car key somewhere on my property. Probably in an area with tall grass. To make things worse, he can't find his spare

Does anyone have a metal detector I could borrow for a day or two? I live in Bailey but would drive to Evergreen to help this poor boy who's dependent on our mom for transportation until one of his keys is found.

You can PM me or call/text 72o-234-6o54.

Pending the make of car the dealer may be able to cut your a new key off of the vin #.

I think you can rent one at the rent-a-tool place in Conifer. I had the exact thing happen to me many years ago. It worked!

Unfortunately, the car's a Suzuki. I called a couple of places and they'd have to get the code from Suzuki after my brother proves ownership, then order the key... sounds like it could be at least a few days.

Our mom might bring him and a rented metal detector up tomorrow to search. She also thinks he should let her in to search his room for the spare but he doesn't want that.

Still looking to borrow a metal detector, even if she rents one two would make the search much faster.

i have a small one that's good for picking up nails in the driveway you could borrow, but i tried it on my keys and the keys themselves are not magnetic - so i'm not sure it would work, unless the key is on a key ring - my thing latched onto the key ring big time, so that could work

mine is not a 'detector', but a magnet on a stick

let me know if you want to try it - i'm in pj

I lost my diamond stud earring...possibly in the gravel drive! Do you think a metal detector can find the metal setting?

Oops, I didn't see the notifications for this topic...

Yes, my brother found his key. It took many hours of searching but we did find it a few days later.

I've read many testimonials on people finding rings and other jewelry using a metal detector so it could work, it's mostly a question of whether the gravel has similar metallic properties to the earring. If you're near Bailey I have one you could try.

I have had luck with a flash light when the moon is not out. I also found a small pocket knife with the truck lights. Good luck i hope you find it.

To answer your question: yes, if the metal detector passes over the diamond earring it will sound off. You may find other metal scraps prior to finding the earring, but you will find the earring if you stick with it.
