Had lunch there yesterday. It was very relaxing and the food was great.
Thanks for having a friendly place to enjoy a nice meal.

Good portions for the price, you would get less meat elsewhere for same price. Fresh meat, not pressed. I am truly impressed. Watch out hog heaven, crossroads, subway, you have strong c

We dropped in over the weekend and the ambience was wonderful and the coffee was good (yes, better than Starbucks IMHO). However, we found the menu selection rather limited with healthy alternatives even slimmer. I know we'd eat there more often if they offered more salads.

The Gypsy Diner rocks!!! I send all my clients down there to grab a coffee while they are waiting for a cut. Also it means i don't need to buy a coffee machine for my place !!!

It would be nice to see a menu that had more options that the other local restaurants don't have,in my opinion having all the restaurants offering many of the same options is redundant. We have hamburgers, fish and chips, breakfast, etc already but with my picky "chef" background no one is going to want to buy a white truffle pasta here in Bailey, lol! I heard from a worker at "China Village" that many customers complained when the "beef with green peppers" only had red peppers because they had a hard time finding green peppers, really!!!????? Green peppers are an abomination of the restaurant world, red peppers are basically the ripened, sweeter,
tastier version of the green bell pepper! (Think garden ripened tomatoes vs tomatoes from the grocery store, seems many Baileyans have no clue,or at least the ones at China Village)
When "The Coffee Shack" was still around I loved how they tried hard to make most of their food and beverages from local places like their chai,coffee,pastries,burritos,etc... Offering seasonal items is also fantastic!
I have heard from several people that have eaten there that the food is great (can't wait to try)
I wish I had the money to open up a restaurant here in Bailey it would be awesome! But I would probably lose the business quickly, because like I said who in Bailey wants truffles and local farm to table, and no traditional American fare (it would be awesome to bring stuff from my garden to my business) crap??I
I just feel the locals want meat, potatoes, and don't really care where it's from, maybe I am wrong?
I am not by all means making Baileyans out to be whatever,I just think they want their basics and that's what they care about

Amendment 64. It's not just for breakfast.
Not sure what that had to do with the Gypsy Diner.

Why take up so much space. Most of us don't care about
the fact that you want to open a restaurant. This space
is about the Gypsy Diner. They have tried hard, good or
bad. Comments should only reflect this thread, your
wants and desires should be posted elsewhere.

I love Gypsy Diner but I think Dragona makes a solid point. It is (yet another) breakfast and burger place, with a few other things on the menu, only done in a more "coffee bar" kind of environment.

Yes, the food is solidly good.
Yes, the staff is genuinely friendly.
Yes, I love their coffee drinks and pastries.

But... why do I go to Cutthroat? Breakfast and burgers. Most other things on the menu seem a bit lacking - but it's a good place for a late breakfast, decent burger and solid, basic coffee.

Why do I go to Rustic Station? Breakfast and burgers. Most other things on the menu I find exceptionally disappointing - but if I want a drink with that burger or a mimosa with that breakfast, it's way closer and less expensive than Brook's Place Tavern.

Why do I go to Cruz'in? Breakfast and burgers, if I want such items to-go. Haven't yet tried, nor find any interest in trying, their take-n-bake pizza. I once had their gyros when they offered it and was underwhelmed. Breakfast and burgers it is, for eating at home.

What have I personally had at Gypsy Diner? Well, the first time it was a breakfast burrito. The second time, it was a burger. Both times, the food was extremely good and both times I've also had pastries and one of their coffee drinks. The good thing about Gypsy Diner is that the other things on their menu, while similar to the same things at other Bailey restaurants, seem to consistently be several notches higher than what's being offered elsewhere on the mountain. My friend has done a burger and a French dip, saying both are far better than what he's had anywhere else up here. Oh, yeah, it also has free wifi. This means I don't have to drive down to Conifer for coffee, a bite and a place where I can do some work away from home. Next time I go, I'll doubtless try their fish-n-chips. I'm also eager to try their pulled pork sandwich.

In any case, it is a discussion about Gypsy Diner to acknowledge they offer the same food as other places up here, only WAY better, combined with a coffee bar and free wifi. I'd also be interested to know what Dragona thinks of the quality of the food/coffee/pastries, once (s)he tries it. I'm becoming a regular. I suspect others will as well. I'm rather confident I'll be back at Gypsy Diner during the week, probably while working on the same (crappy) assignment.

Try the hotdogs. They're different from other places and excellent. I had the buffalo dog (is that an oxymoron?).

I also had a lemon bar. Yum! Who else has lemon bars up here? And the coffee is really good. I don't want to drive to Conifer for that.

But you're right in that some other options could be tried re food. On the other hand, I don't go out much so my opinion won't bring in the bucks.
